The City's Quality Management System is certified under the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System 

The City of Fort Lauderdale is committed to providing the highest quality of public services and to continuously improve service delivery for our neighbors through the implementation of FL2STAT, our quality management system.

The mission of the City is “We Build Community” where residents are considered neighbors and employees are considered community builders. We provide high quality public services by:

  • Identifying and addressing the community priorities of our neighbors;
  • Collaborating across departments and contributing to shared goals;
  • Ensuring accountability, transparency and measured results through performance management and process improvement;
  • Innovating and streamlining our services in order to increase value and reduce waste; and

ISO 9001 is a set of quality standards helping guide over one million companies and organizations in over 170 countries to ensure quality is built into their management systems.  These quality standards include a strong focus on meeting the expectations of customers (neighbors), continual improvement, involved leadership, hiring and retaining engaged and mission driven staff (community builders), and providing high quality services through a process-centered approach.

The City of Fort Lauderdale's quality management system, FL2STAT, has been certified to the ISO 9001:2008 standard.  FL2STAT is how the city manages its processes and activities, so that services meet the objectives established in the city’s strategic plan, the Commission Annual Action Plan, and the annual budget. Additionally, FL2STAT is the city’s method of analyzing neighbors' requirements/expectations, informed by the annual Neighbor Survey, and by reviewing the city’s long-term vision plan, Fast Forward Fort Lauderdale 2035

The City’s Executive Strategy Team (EST) reviews identified areas for improvement and potential process improvements at regular FL2STAT meetings. These meetings provide direction and feedback for the City's nine departments and over 2,400 community builders.  The ISO 9001:2008 certification is an opportunity to demonstrate the City of Fort Lauderdale’s neighbor-centric focus and dedication to delivering high quality services. While the City received its Certificate of Conformance in March of 2016, FL2STAT is a continual, ongoing effort; it is Fort Lauderdale's approach to continuous exponential improvement!
