The City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Broward County Parks and Recreation and the Fort Lauderdale Church of God, will celebrate the 57th Annual David Deal Playday with a series of events beginning Saturday, July 31 through Wednesday, August 4. All events, with the exception of the Championship Swim Meet, will take place at Joseph C. Carter Park, located at 1450 W. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale. All Playday events are free and open to the public.

The 57th Annual David Deal Playday event schedule includes:
Joy in the Park
Saturday, July 31, 2010 – Noon to 8 p.m.
Joy in the Park will feature live music including national gospel artists. The event also includes a free, educational health fair, children’s entertainment, rib cook-off and much more.
Championship Swim Meet
Saturday, July 31, 2010 – 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fort Lauderdale Aquatic Complex, 501 Seabreeze Boulevard
Tri-county summer swim leagues are invited to compete in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and team relays. Registration deadline is July 23.

David Deal Playday Kids Day
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Let the games begin! Olympic sports, novelty competitions, table games, wacky water sports are just a few of the activities planned. Prizes will be awarded all day for the best competitors. Free admission. Groups must pre-register.
Teen 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
Tuesday, August 3 and Wednesday, August 4, 2010 – 3 to 6 p.m.
Come as a team or make one when you get here! High energy hoops only for the serious ball player. Ages 13-17. To register, call (954) 828-4592.
Teen Splash Party
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 – 3:30 to 6 p.m.
Come make a splash while enjoying hot music and cool pool activities.

Legacy Tribute at the Jazz Café
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 – 6 to 8 p.m.
Enjoy cool jazz and hot art as we pay tribute to the trailblazers who helped make Playday what it is today.
Boxing Under the Stars
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 – 7 to 11 p.m.
South Florida’s most talented boxers are vying for their titles at the inaugural Boxing Under the Stars event presented in partnership with the Carter Park Contenders Boxing Club and the Florida Gold Coast Boxing Association.
