The Community Appearance Board was established by the Fort Lauderdale City Commission in 1978. The board is dedicated to developing, implementing and promoting programs and initiatives that improve and enhance the overall community appearance of the City of Fort Lauderdale.
The board's mission is, "To promote an aesthetic environment through the recognition of outstanding urban design with an awards program that is based on our heritage of preservation and its stewardship for present and future generations."
Community Appearance Awards
The Community Appearance Awards are presented each year to encourage aesthetic awareness and recognize individuals and organizations for their outstanding efforts to enhance, improve, and beautify Fort Lauderdale. The awards honor property owners, architects, developers, builders, landscapers, and homeowners associations for outstanding residential and commercial projects that enhance the City’s visual image and economic vitality. Since the program’s inception in 1978, more than 1,000 homes, commercial buildings, office towers, municipal facilities, special projects, landscape improvements and renovation projects have been recognized with this prestigious award.
