Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport to Temporarily Close East/West Runway November 20 - 21, 200

Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) will temporarily close Runway 8-26, the facility’s main east-west runway, for two nights for construction work. The runway will be closed:

  • 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Thursday night, November 20, 2008
  • 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Friday night, November 21, 2008

During the closure, FXE will use Runway 13-31 (the diagonal runway) for arrivals and departures. As a result, residents in the north and northwest neighborhoods of Fort Lauderdale and the surrounding areas of Oakland Park, Tamarac, and Pompano may notice an increase in aircraft operations over their communities.

In the event of inclement weather, the closure will take place overnight from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday night, November 23 and Monday night, November 24.

The City of Fort Lauderdale encourages residents to call Executive Airport’s 24-hour Noise Abatement Hotline at (954) 828-6666 to report incidents of excessively loud aircraft. By accurately reporting the time and date of the incident, FXE can contact aircraft operators and work with them to reduce noise over residential neighborhoods.

If you have any questions, please contact Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport at (954) 828-4955.
