Electric Scooters Prohibited on Fort Lauderdale Beach During Fort Lauderdale Air Show: May 4-5

Fort Lauderdale, FL (May 2, 2019) – This weekend marks the return of the Fort Lauderdale Air Show on May 4-5. This 2-day event features flight performances by the US Navy Blue Angels, US Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team, and others flown from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport to the show center on A1A north of Sunrise Boulevard.

We are committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents and visitors during this high impact event and throughout the year. On Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5, electric or motorized scooters, and any other forms of dockless mobility, will be prohibited on portions of the barrier island, per City of Fort Lauderdale Ordinance C-19-03, Sec. 8-55.5. For this event, the portion of the barrier island that is restricted shall be defined as Oakland Park Boulevard to the north, Sunrise Boulevard to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department continues monitoring Spring Break activities to ensure that all City ordinances are followed. The public is encouraged to follow us on Twitter (@FTLCityNews).
