Precautionary Advisory for Inland Waterways LIFTED for Himmarshee Canal
Fort Lauderdale (July 3, 2016) – The City of Fort Lauderdale in consultation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection HAS LIFTED the precautionary advisory that was in effect for water-related recreational activities in the Himmarshee Canal near downtown.
Satisfactory test results indicate that swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, and other water-related recreational activities may be resumed in the Himmarshee Canal from the New River to U.S. 1.
The precautionary advisory was the result of a sewer line break that occurred under water at SE 10 Avenue and SE 2 Street on June 23. Repair work was completed earlier in the week and the pipe is fully operational.
