Valid Handicap Parking Permits & License Tags

Handicap Parking Permits and license plates must be properly displayed (with expiration date visible) and only used when the vehicle is transporting the person to whom the displayed permit is issued. If the permit holder is not exiting the vehicle, then the permit may not be used.

On-Street Metered Parking 

On-street metered parking is defined as when you park your vehicle on the street, anywhere on or along the curb. As per Florida State Statute 316.1964, drivers of vehicles displaying a disabled parking permit or license plate are allowed to park for free up to four (4) hours in any on-street metered space, unless signage posted restricts the time to park. For example, if the signage establishes a three-hour time limit, then the driver is allowed to park for a maximum of three hours. After the time limit expires, the driver must deposit money into the parking meter or move the vehicle from the parking space. 

Surface Lots & Garage Parking

All drivers must pay to park in the City's public parking garages and surface lots. Drivers of vehicles with specialized equipment such as a ramp, lift, or foot or hand controls, or displaying the Florida Toll Exemption Permit , or displaying the Disabled Veteran "DV" license plate (see picture below) are also allowed to park for free for up to four hours in designated handicap space. These vehicles may also park for free in any space in the facility for up to four hours if there is no designated handicap space available at that time.
