Andrews Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Broward County's Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division is leading a rehabilitation project on the Andrews Avenue Bridge over the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Once the project is completed in March 2020, the bridge will be storm-resistant, more reliable, and quieter.

On behalf of the County, the following is information about upcoming construction-related traffic impacts:

  • As of May 30th, one lane of the bridge in each direction is closed through March 2020.
  • From September 9th through October 8th (barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays), the bridge will be completely closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Posted detour signs will re-route vehicular traffic to SE 3rd Avenue. Boaters will notice minimal impacts to navigation.
