Habitat Conservation Plan Public Meetings
Tuesday, October 1, 2019
9 a.m. – Noon and 6 – 9 p.m.
South Side Cultural Arts Center
701 S Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316
The City of Fort Lauderdale received a $75,000 subgrant from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to prepare a Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) to address special events on Fort Lauderdale Beach. The HCP will outline measures designed to minimize and lessen the impacts to species protected under the Endangered Species Act (i.e., sea turtles, federally listed shorebirds, etc.), conserve species, and contribute to their recovery.
The City, in partnership with Ecological Associates, Inc. and FWC, is hosting two public meetings on October 1, 2019 to provide background on the HCP process, solicit public input on protected species management related to special events on the Beach, and address HCP-related concepts.
