Overview:
The City of Fort Lauderdale is making safety and beautification improvements along NE 32 Street and NE 33 Street between NE 33 Avenue and A1A that will enhance the area and improve walkability. Nearby businesses remain open during construction, which is expected to be completed in late 2020. The scope of the project includes:
- Asphalt milling and resurfacing
- New curb and gutter
- New ADA-compliant sidewalks on both sides of each street
- New pavement markings and signage, including at crosswalks
- New concrete wheel stops in parking areas
- Underground electrical work and conduit trenching
- Upgraded lighting with LED fixtures
- New decorative pedestrian lights
- Landscaping upgrades including a new irrigation system and new trees with root barriers and Silva Cells
- Relocating a stormwater pipe
Traffic and Parking Impacts:
Temporary lane closures are expected on each street as work progresses and full road closures may be required to ensure safety during some construction activities. Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
Parking on NE 32 Street and NE 33 Street between NE 33 Avenue and A1A will be limited during construction. Alternative parking will be available west of NE 33 Avenue and at the Beach Community Center.
