Project Overview
The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with CHC Marine Services, LLC to perform maintenance on approximately 1,500 feet of Osceola Creek from SW 32 Place to Marina Mile Boulevard in Edgewood. The improvements made as part of this project will help improve stormwater conveyance. This project includes:
- Removal of debris, garbage, and other impediments to normal drainage
- Bank stabilization
- Removal of exotic vegetation
- Maintenance dredging of accumulated sediments
Crews will work from a barge in the canal and along the banks to complete the dredging using excavators. Sediment will be drained in a container aboard the barge before being loaded onto trucks that will take it to a landfill for proper disposal.
Neighbors will likely notice equipment noise, a hydrogen sulfide (rotten egg-like) odor, and turbidity/cloudiness in the water. CHC Marine Services, LLC will be monitoring the site for compliance with issued permits and natural resource protection measures.
This project will begin the week of Tuesday, September 5, 2023, and is expected to be completed in late 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
- No lane closures are expected as part of this project.
