The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southeastern Engineering Contractors are making improvements to the stormwater system along SE 9th Avenue between the Tarpon River and Ponce de Leon Drive in Rio Vista to reduce flooding in the area. The work includes:
- Installing one manhole along Ponce de Leon Drive
- Installing a new 24-inch stormwater pipe to replace an existing obsolete pipe
- Reconstructing the roadway, including paving and site restoration as needed
Construction will begin on Monday, September 9, 2024, and is expected to be completed by late October 2024. Work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
- Intermittent lane closures are possible on southbound SE 9th Avenue between the Tarpon River and Ponce de Leon Drive daily during work hours.
- Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
- Crews will attempt to coordinate with neighbors prior to the start of operations that may affect parking access.
- Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area.
