In September 2022, Mayor Trantalis hosted his second in-person State of the City address following the waning of the COVID pandemic. The event took place at the Parker Playhouse in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Mayor Trantalis has been advocating that if regional commuter rail service is pursued, the only viable way the additional trains to cross the New River is by building a tunnel through downtown rather than an elongated, high-rise bridge.

Swearing-in Speech - 2020
On Dec. 2, Mayor Trantalis was sworn into a second term in office after an overwhelming win in the November election. The other commissioners were sworn into another term as well. The mayor spoke about the state of the city and his vision for the next term.

In October 2020, Mayor Trantalis published a written State of the City report. He decided to provide a printed update rather than host an in-person event in light of the COVID-19 pandemic that was then impacting the world and limiting large in-person gatherings.

On Jan. 8, Mayor Trantalis hosted a town hall forum. He discussed the progress the city of Fort Lauderdale has made in improving its utility infrastructure and plans for upcoming work to the community has modern water, sewer and stormwater systems.

In February 2019, Mayor Trantalis hosted his first State of the City address since winning the office of mayor the preceding March. He laid out the accomplishments of the past year and discussed his vision for the city's future. The event took place at the NSU Art Museum in downtown Fort Lauderdale and was combined with the annual Citizen Recognition Awards to make for a very special event.
