It is my honor to serve as the Chief Education Officer for the City of Fort Lauderdale. As a native of South Florida and a long-standing resident of the Broward community, my lifelong passion has been rooted in education and in making positive impacts that promote student success. Having previously served as a public school teacher and administrator, I find it personally rewarding to promote educational excellence and to prepare our students to be productive citizens in our city.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is enthusiastic about utilizing our resources to support our neighbors, schools, and communities. As partners working together, I look forward to contributing to this mission. We will continue to strive to provide cutting-edge educational opportunities for our students.

The City of Fort Lauderdale launched the Education Office in 2019 to support the city’s vision of being known for world-class schools and as a training hub for top talent. With a focus on economic development, the function was rebranded as the Education & Workforce Development Office in 2023, currently under the City Manager’s Office. The renaming builds on the city’s success expanding workforce training and ushers in a reinvigorated focus on career readiness and business development.

The Education & Workforce Development Office prioritizes initiatives that create pathways to economic prosperity for our residents and cultivate a talent pipeline to sustain and grow our economy. The city has been recognized for innovation in education and workforce development as Broward County Public Schools’ 2020 Education Partner of the Year at the Secondary Level and the 2021 recipient of the Florida Department of Education’s Commissioner’s Business Recognition Award. Additionally, in 2023, Fort Lauderdale was one of sixteen cities selected by the National League of Cities and U.S. Department of Labor to join the Good Jobs, Great Cities Academy.

The city of Fort Lauderdale understands that education drives decision-making about where families live and where businesses grow. We seek to collaborate in new ways with schools, universities, businesses, community organizations and workforce development organizations to improve education and training opportunities for the future economy. Join us in sustaining Fort Lauderdale’s reputation as the place you never want to leave for generations to come!
