The City of Fort Lauderdale is one of the Broward municipalities that the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance has ranked as Platinum Cities for serving excellence during the permitting process. The Development Services Department (DSD) has a team of employees dedicated to solving permitting problems. The Permit Solutions Team, led by three Business Assistance Coordinators, provides a customer-led approach to navigating the City’s development process, including but not limited to zoning, permitting, business tax, and construction. The Permit Solutions Team is a resource that can assist every type of customer from large-scale construction, local industries, small businesses, property owners and residents. 

How Can the Permit Solutions Team Assist?

• Applying for a permit or scheduling an inspection online.
• Finding satisfactory resolution of issues that may arise during the permit application, plan review and/or inspection processes.
• Seeking locations or relocation/expansion in Fort Lauderdale working closely with agencies like the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance and Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce.
• Questions about zoning, business tax, building code, and permitting.
• Understanding and calculating permitting fees.

The Permit Solutions Team works closely with DSD staff and other City departments to ensure your permitting process is hassle-free and efficient. If an issue arises during the pre-construction or construction process, the team will work with key stakeholder to resolve problems as quickly as possible. 

Please note: Walk-Thru and minor permits that can be issued on the same day are not eligible for this service.

Development Services Department (DSD) is committed to complete all initial permit reviews within 30 days or less of receipt of permit application.
