The City of For Lauderdale has commenced a study, led by MGT Consulting Group, to determine if disparities exist between the utilization and availability of minority- and women-owned businesses in the City’s relevant market place. The time frame MGT will be examining is October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2018 (FY 14-18).
The study’s objectives are to establish legally defensible race- and gender-conscious inclusion goals, and enforceable efforts for removing any barriers to businesses owned by minorities, women, or other socially and economically disadvantaged individuals’ participation in its procurement opportunities. The study will analyze utilization and availability for five procurement categories: Architecture & Engineering, Construction, Goods, Other Services, and Professional Services.
We are encouraging all City business owners, both M/WBE certified and non-M/WBE certified, to provide information about their experiences doing business, or attempting to do business, with the City of Fort Lauderdale.
A formal public engagement meeting was conducted on April 30, 2018 with City staff and MGT. The study is projected to be completed at the end of the year.
Businesses in all procurement categories and ethnic classifications will be randomly selected and invited to participate in in-depth interviews and business surveys. The interviews are opportunities for businesses to have one-on-one discussions with the MGT team regarding their experiences doing business, or attempting to do business, with the City or prime contracted by the City. The business surveys gather information on business demographics, capacity, and experiences doing business with the City.
At any point during the study, business owners, both M/WBE and non-M/WBE, may submit their comments regarding their experiences doing business, or attempting to do business, with the City via the website which is strictly confidential and directed to the consultant team.
