Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue (FLFR) strategic station locations, over 400 sworn staff and 31 front-line trucks,
two fire boats, and a heavy rescue squad  deliver comprehensive 24-hour emergency services
to the communities of Fort Lauderdale, Wilton Manors and Lazy Lake.

Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Hurricane Preparedness and Special Operations Command form the backbone of our emergency response profile. Fire Rescue segments the City into three Battalions with a fourth Battalion (B35) based on demand. Daily staffing is three Battalion Chiefs, one  Assistant Chief, and a minimum staffing level of 87 Fire Rescue personnel.

The deployment of FLFR resources focuses on meeting NFPA response time benchmarks:

  1. EMS responses: 6:00 minutes at the 90th percentile
  2. Residential fires (16 firefighters): 10:20 minutes at the 90th percentile
  3. Commercial fires (22 firefighters): 14:20 minutes at the 90th percentile

Emergency Services also participates in the following community and business services in conjunction with the programs offered by other department bureaus:

  1. Testing and building life-safety systems and pre-planning building response
  2. Disaster preparedness, damage assessment and post-event recovery service
  3. Community relations with engine and rescue companies at homeowner association meetings and community events
  4. Assistance with Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training of community leaders
  5. Provision of off-duty detail units for special events and local sport activitiesd
