GovernmentJobs.com allows applicants to create a user account, apply for positions directly online, and even check the status of their application.
First-Time Applicants
If you're applying for a job with the City of Fort Lauderdale for the first time, you will need to create a new account in our online application system. To get started, please refer to the Create an Account and How to Apply pages for detailed instructions.
Each applicant must have their own email address to set up an account. Please do not share your account with anyone. If you don’t have an email address, you can easily sign up for free with services like AOL, Yahoo! Mail, or Google Gmail.
Important: Accounts are for individual use only and should not be shared. Sharing accounts or submitting multiple applications from different users could jeopardize your application status.
Creating Your Employment Application
Once your account is set up, you can begin building your application. Simply log in via the Login link and select Build Job Application. As you fill out your application, be sure to save your progress regularly. If you remain inactive for over an hour without saving, you’ll be logged out automatically for security reasons, and any unsaved data will be lost.
Once submitted, your application will be stored in the system and can be used for future job openings with the City of Fort Lauderdale, or any other government agency using NEOGOV and GovernmentJobs.com.
Note: If you’ve previously created a profile on GovernmentJobs.com, you can use the same username, password, and saved profile to apply for positions with the City of Fort Lauderdale. You can also create multiple application profiles or templates for different positions, allowing you to apply quickly when a new job posting is available.
Submitting Your Employment Application
All Current Job Opportunities are listed online. To apply, click the job title you're interested in and then select the "Apply" link.
Some positions may require a supplemental questionnaire, which will appear near the end of the application process. You must submit an online application to be considered for each job opening. While you can copy and paste your resume into the application, resumes alone will not be accepted.
