Project Summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale will begin replacing and installing existing city-owned seawalls on the northern end of Hendricks Isle in Summer of 2022.  The proposed infrastructure improvements include replacing two (2) existing coral-rock seawalls of approximately 265 linear feet and 60 linear feet, respectively, with new marine-grade steel sheet-piles with a new concrete cap.  The new seawall cap will be set at an elevation of 5.0 NAVD to comply with the new seawall ordinance and protect against rising sea level and king tides. Additional improvements include minor stormwater work, including new tidal valves and new outfall penetrations to make sure the roadway drains properly through the new seawall. This project is partially grant funded by the Florida Resilient Coastline Program (FRCP) grant through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
