To increase the public perception of the overall quality of public education in the City of Fort Lauderdale, we bring to you this student recognition based on the 8 essential core character traits as identified, after extensive public involvement, by the School Board of Broward County:
Cooperation: Working with others to accomplish a common goal.
Responsibility: Meeting obligations by being reliable, accountable, and dependable to self and others.
Citizenship: Knowing, understanding, and displaying a high regard for rules, government, heritage, and for those who have served and sacrificed for community and country.
Kindness: Being helpful, thoughtful, caring, compassionate, and considerate.
Respect: Showing consideration, understanding, and regard for people, places, and things.
Honesty: Being truthful, trustworthy, and sincere.
Self-Control: Having discipline over one’s behavior and actions.
Tolerance: Recognizing and respecting the differences, values, and beliefs of other people.
This recognition will take place three times, once for each Innovation Zone (see attached). Each FTL school may submit one applicant for this recognition each year. Honorees will be recognized at an announced City Commission Meeting. Parents will be invited to attend. Student honorees will receive a certificate of recognition and a gift. Timeline of events:
